The secret to weight loss

We’re always looking for the secret to weight loss, the truth is, there isn’t one!! Or is there?!? We used to say Slimming World was the best kept secret, but more and more people know now it’s the best weight loss method that there is!! We are the no.1 slimming organisation in the uk and we are just going from strength to strength!

I do however have a secret to share with you, if it’s something you’ve not heard of. The book called The Secret. This book could seriously change your life and how you look and feel about yourself!!

I’ve had this book for three years after buying it from amazon and just never got around to reading it!! I finally read it while in Barcelona recently and I couldn’t put it down!!! I’ve always been passionate in my group about having a positive mental attitude. I’ve always believed in the famous Henry Ford quote that whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right! This book backs up this quote beautifully!!

So what’s the secret?!?! I’m going to use lots of quotes from the book to help explain it. Stay with me and keep an open mind 😉

“Be grateful for what you have now. As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at the never ending thoughts that come back to you of more things to be grateful for. You have to make a start, and then the law of attraction will receive those grateful thoughts and give you more just like them.”
― Rhonda Byrne, The Secret

You might be thinking, er ok this all sounds a bit weird but read on…….

Your thoughts become things! I totally agree with this, The Secret is all about your mindset. It’s about remembering that your thoughts are the primary cause of everything. I love this quote,

“You are the masterpiece of your own life. You are the Michelangelo
of your own life. The David you are sculpturing is you”

Outside influences can be just excuses that we put in our own way. We have the power to change us if we want it bad enough and think positively.

Think about when you have really happy days. If you are feeling good, its usually because you are thinking good thoughts. Your thoughts can attract everything that you require. If it’s money you need you will attract it. If it’s people you need you’ll attract it. You’ve got to pay attention to what you’re attracted to, because as you hold images of what you want, you’re going to be attracted to things and they’re going to be attracted to you. But it literally moves into physical reality with and through you. And it does that by law. The law of attraction.

“Every thought of yours is a real thing – a force. It will have a cause and effect.”

Rhonda Byrne, The author of The Secret makes a fabulous point here,

“It is impossible to bring more into your life if you are feeling ungrateful about what you have. Why? Because the thoughts and feelings you emit as you feel ungrateful are all negative emotions. ”

Sound familiar? Does one bad day turn in to another? We need to switch our thoughts and our mind sets!!

There’s an entire chapter in this book dedicated to weight loss. It was like she was talking to me!! One statement that really stood out is the fact that food isn’t what causes weight gain, it’s our thoughts surrounding food and being overweight that causes it!

Rhonda believes the following,

“If you’re not feeling good and you want to change the way you feel, or if you want to lift good feelings higher, then take a minute or two and go through a mental list of everything you love and adore. You can do it while getting dressed in the morning, walking, driving or traveling anywhere.”

You may of seen all the #100 happy days on social media, or you might of heard of the three blessings?? This is basically what Rhonda is saying. Be grateful, think happy thoughts and you will attract more happy things.

So how can we re train what label we’ve given our bodies?? I always moan about my thighs!!!! Have they ever really changed, no!! So now I’m thankful for other parts of my body and I’m trying really hard to not label myself and let’s see if I can slim these bad boys down. If I keep saying I’m always going to have chunky thighs, I will!!

“Whatever you believe about your body, your cells believe too. They don’t question anything you think, feel, or believe. In fact, they hear every thought, feeling, and belief you have.”

When I think about my last holiday this reinforces the book entirely. The last two holidays I’ve been so ill with vertigo after the flight. This time I decided to visualise being fine, getting on and off the plane and having an amazing holiday. I kept saying I’m going to be fine and it’s going to be amazing. Guess what, I was and the holiday was wonderful. So is there something in this?!? I’ve struggled with sleeping for two years too. I now imagine before I go to bed having a fab nights sleep, I’m grateful for it and I even say to my boyfriend how amazing my sleep is going to be lol. You might think I’ve gone mad but it flipping works!!!!! I’ve slept better than I have been in years!!!

Do you always focus on what you don’t want as opposed to what you do? Ie, I don’t want to be overweight any more. This is a negative statement and can hold you back. Do you ever think, well I’ve failed before, I probably will again!! Noooooooooooo you’re just limiting your own beliefs. Have you ever been labelled by doctors, friends, or even family? Have they told you you’ll never lose weight, or will always find it hard?!?! Er be quiet please, we don’t need your negative thoughts!! If you except these thoughts, whether they are from others or yourself it will become your reality. Let go of limiting thoughts, imagine throwing them all in a pile and setting fire to them! Gone forever!! Fling those negative knickers off and whack those positive pants on!!!

Lots of famous sportsmen and women, singers, actors use the visualisation technique. The Secret also recommends this method. They advise you to visualise and get a really clear picture of the weight you want to be and how you want to look. Believe you can do it, focus on that goal and imagine how it’s going to feel when you’ve hit it. But most importantly feel happy now. Losing weight doesn’t automatically make you happy.

So remember to remember, banish those thoughts and be happy.

Now you know the secret, the rest is down to you.

Right then folks I’m now off to do my cardio and go shopping!!! Have a wonderful day.

Happy Fopping xx

What’s your happy weight?!

Good evening, this is something I’ve thought a lot about recently. What is my happy weight? What’s your happy weight?!? What is a happy weight?!? Confusing right!!

When I got to target I felt amazing!!!! The best I’d ever felt. I weighed 9 stone 7lbs and at 5ft 6 I was really happy with that. I’d lost 3 stone in 3 months, I didn’t crash diet, I didn’t use milk shakes, I did it in a healthy happy way. A fabulous plan, slimming world and at the end exercise too. I felt unstoppable. I got a new job from it, I ended an unhappy relationship and met someone new. I got a new house. I was super happy. This lasted 7 years, I maintained my happy weight all that time as I was happy. So I was sorted right? Wrong. Things change.

After a difficult break up I lost weight without trying and went down to 9.1lbs, for my height and shape I looked really slim. Most people thought too slim. I was a small size 8. I’d always thought this would feel amazing. Don’t get me wrong I felt flipping good being so slim, but I’d got there because I was unhappy. A number on the scales can’t change how you feel as a person. A lot of girls find the heartbreak diet kicks in after a break up and on the outside you may look and feel fantastic, but on the inside it’s a whole different story. A number or dress size won’t solve your problems. You might think controlling your weight and looking hot will make you feel better, but it doesn’t. You might look at super skinny people now on TV and think OMG I’d love to be them. I’m not going to lie, I still do this!! A lot of the time though they are super skinny now as they are desperately unhappy. What you prefer? To be a size 6 and miserable or a happy healthy weight and love life?!? No brainer really. So when you next wish you looked super skinny, if you do, consider that they may rather be you.

When you meet someone the opposite can then happen, you go on dates, have cozy nights in with a take away, go for drinks, weekends away, they may cook for you non sw food, you tend to gain weight, you settle down and become happy and content, you don’t feel as motivated to lose weight as you’re happy. Ha ha bonus, you might think, well sod it, Ive bagged a man now so It doesn’t matter if I gain weight!! But then gaining weight can make you unhappy!! Can’t win. Or can we?!?

What’s the answer? Find your happy weight, figure out what that means to you. Yes I liked being 9 stone 2lbs, but I wasn’t eating much and I wasn’t in a good place. I really don’t think I could get to that weight again and stay happy, as I love food and going out. I’m the happiest now I think I’ve ever been, but I’m also heavier!

I’m not at target right now, I do really want to get back there though. It’s about 7lbs, but that’s 7lbs makes a big difference to how I feel in my clothes and I would be happier at that weight. So I’m on the case!! I know I can get there as I’ve done it before. It’s about finding a balance.

You’ll know when you get there as you’ll feel happy on the inside and on the outside. You won’t obsess about food, scales, what you look like, having the lights turned off if you’re naked lol, doing the wiggle dance to get in your jeans or having a total melt down when getting ready as nothing fits. We’ve all been there.

Will losing weight automatically make you happy? No, that’s the truth. It will help but it won’t be the ultimate reason. Figure out what you love, what you want to do, be grateful for what you’ve got and if you aren’t where you want to be in life right now, change it. Put steps in place and don’t hold yourself back. Believe in yourself, life’s too short to be unhappy. Ok so I’m not a skinny size 8 but I’ve got a fantastic boyfriend who I adore, amazing family and friends, a job I love more than I can put in to words with incredible members and team members, a lovely house, a nice car and nice clothes. I know I can get back to target and I’ll do it in a happy healthy way 🙂

I feel better getting that out ha ha. Enjoy your evening folks. Happy Fopping xx

Barcelona, addiction and on a mission

Hi all!! I’ve really missed writing my blog while I’ve been away. I wasn’t Ill!!!!! The first holiday in three years that I could enjoy. I really think the ear planes I bought helped on the flight and I tried to be sensible with the sun, drinking loads of water and wearing a hat. I can’t tell you how pleased and relieved I felt!!!! Barcelona is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been to!! I had such a fab time with my gorgeous boyfriend. The architecture, restaurants, bars, clubs and of course shops are amazing!!! We stayed near La Rambla and we couldn’t of picked a better location!! The hotel was lovely, I loved loved loved the breakfast selection!!!!! There was tons of fruit, meats, eggs, even fat free yogurt! They’d also make omelettes for you and had skimmed milk! There was a roof top pool which was lovely too!

La Rambla is fantastic, loads going on, a people watchers dream!!! We found a wonderful square with tons of restaurants and bars and entertainment. There’s loads of shops in Barcelona too, love zara!!

The gothic quarter is beautiful too, more oldy wordly. So many little back streets to explore.

Then you’ve got the more modern part by the Port Olympic, this is where the stunning shoko was. We also went to the w hotel, OMG so stunning!!!!! Not cheap though at 35 euros for two vodkas!! So glad we went though, they’ve got glass walls so it’s a panoramic view of the city 🙂 the beach is really lovely too.

I loved the bus tour!!!! Two hours and you get to see much of this stunning place. The Sagrada Familia Cathedral designed by Gaudi was mind blowing!!!!!!!!

We certainly tried a wide variety of food!!! It wasn’t all paella and tapas although we did have that. We had Italian food, Arabic, Asian and Chinese lol. I always tried to make good choices, not so much with the drinks lol!!! I asked for a side salad at most places but they don’t really do them so ended up with a huge one!!! I wasn’t complaining!!!

So my title has the word addiction in. I gave up smoking nye and have been using a menthol disposable e light type thingie. It’s fab!! I wasn’t a massive smoker but liked to have a few with a drink. It’s like food, I found a substitute for something that was bad for me. I didn’t miss smoking, in fact it meant I didn’t have to keep going outside and my clothes and hair no longer stunk!! However on holiday I went out without it one night. Big mistake!! They didn’t sell them anywhere and I couldn’t rest as I really wanted it!! I ended up going on a hunt for some menthol cigarettes, I was driving chris mad!!! I found somewhere that sold them, the relief!!! I sat down looking forward to it, lit it, took one puff and was very disappointed!!!!! It was horrible!! Big let down, it got me thinking though. This is like when we binge isn’t it. Some people are addicted to food, chocolate, crisps whatever…….. Mentally of course. Then we go mad, eat loads and then feel rubbish!!!! This is when the pause technique comes in useful. Stop, pause for 30 minutes. Try and find a low syn substitute, then after 30 minutes reassess if you still want it. Hopefully that feeling would of passed by then.

After eating and drinking out for 6 days I felt utterly gross!!!! Yes it tastes nice, of course it does but I’d much rather feel confident and happy. My weight is a massive thing for me, it effects my mood, how nice I am, I like to be in control of what I eat. When I eat rubbish, I feel rubbish!! If I eat well, I feel well! It’s a way of life for me and always will be. It’s scary how quickly you can re gain weight, everything starts to feel tighter and you have less energy.

It’s made me mega focused now though!! I don’t dwell on a gain, or feel horrendous guilt. I choose to move on look forward and get excited about how much I can lose this week. So the mission is on!!!!!

If you’ve never been to Barcelona I highly recommend it!!! Although how annoying are those flipping hair dryers in hotels, you know the ones where you have to keep your finger down on the button for it to work!! Also bidet’s, what are they all about!?! Ha ha.

Happy Fopping guys xx

Hair straighter review of cheap vs expensive ish

Hey guys. Quick hair straighter review as requested.

A few days ago a girls worst nightmare happened to me!! My ghds broke!!!!! Queue a mad panic, I’d have to go out looking like a bush pig lol, or a total frizzy mess like Monica in friends, you know the one where they were on holiday and she had to have braids ha ha as the humidity ruined her hair. Got to love friends!!!! At uni once I even ironed my hair!!!

Anyway I posted my distress signal on fb and a lovely friend recommended some Remington straighteners at a fraction of the price of ghds. I adore my ghds as I curl with my hair with them too, they heat up fast and do the job. I really wanted another pair but at £85-£120 a piece I thought I’d try the Remington ones, if I didn’t like them at least they’d be a back up if this disaster happened again.

I got them from Argos, £34.99!!!! Surely they can’t be any good at that price? I read the reviews and they were all amazing!! I opened them up and was pleasantly surprised, not only with how they looked but the temperature settings and the free heat protector matt for them!! Ghds don’t do that. They straightened my hair perfectly!!!!!!! The only thing I’d say is that it was a bit too perfect if that makes sense?!? My hair did look a bit flat, they are really wide compared to ghds so were faster to use which was a bonus. If you like polka straight hair you will love them!!! As I like to curl my hair with mine too I decided to dial daddy 999 and see if they could be fixed.

My dad was horrified at the state of my lead on the ghds ha ha, whoops!!! He took them to work and everyone laughed and said they were the worst they’d ever seen!! He’s a designer electriciton, he doesn’t work with a load of men that straighten their hair lol!!! He ordered a new cable for them and boom, as good as new!!! The lead was only £9.99, I would of thrown them away!! There’s even a you tube video to show you how to do it yourself.

So overall I still need my ghds however the Remingtons are a flipping close 2nd and a total bargain!!!

The full name is Remington Sleek and Smooth Wide Plates Hair Straightener.

Happy Fopping xxxx

Syn free muffins!!!!

Hi all,

I hope you’ve all had a fab day!!! I did step this morning before work, killer!!!!! Good fun though.

This was my breakfast before I went!!! Wow!!!! Loving them!!! Weetabix lemon muffins!!! A HEB and then add 1/2 syn for the choc shot.

Imagine what other varieties you can do!!! It’s the first time trying this, I used a lemon fat free Greek aldi yogurt. Going to experiment with others though, if using a muller I’d use half a pot. I’d add more cinnamon next time too and maybe some essence. Mine were also ready in 20 mins as I’d pre heated the oven. By the time I’d got ready they were done Yum yum yum xxx

Sofa shopping!!

Hi all.

I’m shattered from the gym this morning!! I did spin then pump and now I’m hurting!! Needs must, as I’m off to Barcelona Friday!!! Whoooo hoooo 🙂

So if you follow my fb page, blog, Instagram or you’ve met me for more than 5 minutes, you’ll know I’m obsessed with shopping!!!!!!!

I love actually going shopping, being inspired by window displays, model displays and actually being able to try things on. I do however also love internet shopping!! You can do it at any time of the day, hungover or not! You can find things a bit more unique than the high street shops and there’s some really reasonably priced shops online.

Here’s my list!! If you’re stuck and need an outfit for a night out you can now screen shot this list and I’m sure you’d find something!!!!

There’s probably a million more, but I’ll leave it at that for now!

Food wise I think I may need to address my obsession with fruit, yogurt and choc shot. Yes it all syn free and the choc shot is only 1/2 syn, but I’m over eating on it I think. I just can’t get enough!!!! Fat free yogurt is great but it is quite high in sugar and this bothers me. I do love quark too so I’m going to try and have more of this. We’ll see how I get on!!! Last nights tea was gorgeous!!! I’ll be having that again very soon!!! The gammon was aldi’s finest range and I was super impressed!!!

Anyway must dash!! Happy Fopping all xxxx

Sw haribo and amazing dinner!!!

Hi all. Busy day again today for me. I’ve had month end to complete. My team are doing amazing and I’m thrilled!!!!! I manage 30 other groups as well as running my own group. I love love love my job!!!

I’ve had some lovely meals today! All rammed with superfree.

Breakfast was scrambled egg, spinach, sautéed veg and two scan bran.

Lunch was something just made up. Cajun and piri chicken in a tomato and garlic sauce on a bed of roasted Mediterranean veg.

Dinner was gammon, syn free chips, mushroom, salad and pineapple. Totally yum!!!!

Dessert was my usual. Fat free Greek yogurt, fruit, choc shot and cinnamon. 1/2 syn.

I’ve also made these jelly sweets to snack on :-

Slimming world haribo sweets. 1.5 syns. These are strawberry flavour.

I used this version.

Jelly Sweets
1 sachet of sugar free jelly (1.5 syns each)
1 sachet of powdered gelatine
1 pot Muller Light yoghurt, I used the strawberry aldi Greek ones
Mix the jelly and gelatine in ½ pint of boiling water, pour 2 thirds of the mixture in to the mould and put in the fridge to start to set.
Mix remaining jelly with the Yogurt and pour on top of the mould.

Put it back in the fridge to set.

There is a recipe where you can add two sachets of gelatine. This would make them firmer.

I’m not obsessed with them but they are really nice. The left over mixture I turned in to a blancmange style dessert, just mix the yogurt in with the jelly and set.

I wore my new jacket today and I love it!! Good old new look.

Have a lovely evening and Happy Fopping xx
